We are looking for people to work in the 2020 school elections. There are many positions available across our territory! Hourly salaries range from $15.68 to $27.92. Apply here

ELECTORAL LIST (To enable you to vote)

ARE YOU ON THE ELECTORAL LIST?

To be able to exercise your right to vote in the December 20, 2020 school elections, you MUST be registered on the SWLSB list of electors.

To be on the electoral list, you MUST meet the following criteria on polling day:

  • Be 18 years of age or over;
  • Be domiciled on the territory of the School Board and have been domiciled in Quebec for at least six months;
  • Not to be under curatorship;
  • Not be deprived of their election right;
  • Have a child enrolled at the SWLSB or NOT have a child enrolled in another school board.

Voters with no children enrolled in public schools

In the case of a voter who has no children in a public school, you may ask for your name to be added to our electoral list. Please ensure you return the original form to Helen Finn, Returning Officer at 235, montée Lesage, Rosemère, J7A 4Y6, before Tuesday, December 1, 10 PM. Click here

If you have a child attending a school or centre of the SWLSB, you should be registered on the electoral list, however, it is important that you verify your registration status to be able to vote. (Enter your postal code and civic number)

BOARD OF REVISORS

If you are on our electoral list, you will receive by mail shortly the registration notice. These notices will be mailed on November 20, 2020. If all the information on this notice is accurate, no action is required. HOWEVER, should you notice a mistake in regard to the information on the notice, you can make a request for entry, corrections or striking.

Please find below the dates for which such requests can be made, in person, to the board of revisors or delegated persons, as well as the applicable forms.

All requests must be handed in no later than December 1,2020 at 10 p.m.

Requests to the board of revisors from a person in isolation due to COVID-19

Any person in isolation who wishes to make one of the above-mentioned requests must do so in writing to the board of revisors by mail (235, montée Lesage, Rosemère (Québec) J7A 4Y6) or by email (elections@swlauriersb.qc.ca) in order to avoid travel. The applicable form must include a copy two identification documents: one indicating the person's name and date of birth, and the other, the person's name and the address of the domicile, for example: Quebec driver's licence, Quebec health insurance card or Canadian passport.

All requests must be transmitted no later than December 1,2020 at 10 p.m.

A person in isolation is someone who:

  • Returned from a trip abroad less than 14 days ago;
  • Has received a diagnosis of COVID-19 and is still considered to be a carrier of the disease;
  • Has symptoms of COVID-19;
  • Has been in contact with a suspected, probable or confirmed case of COVID-19 within the last 14 days;
  • Is awaiting the result of a test for COVID-19.

Requests to the board of revisors from a person domiciled in a CHSLD or a recognized retirement home

These persons must also send their request in writing to avoid travel, according to the same procedure as a person in isolation. However, the request from a person domiciled in a CHSLD or a recognized retirement home may include an attestation from a member of the personnel confirming his or her identity and address of residence instead of a copy of the above-mentioned pieces of identification.

All requests must be transmitted no later than December 1, at 10 p.m.

VOTING BY MAIL OR IN PERSON

You will be receiving a confirmation by mail of your voting location. You may also verify your voting location by clicking here. (Click on the "Advance Poll or Polling day)

Only the following persons can and MUST vote by mail:

  • You live in a residential and long-term care facility governed by the Act respecting health services and social services (CHSLD) or a private seniors' residence;
    OR
  • You are a person in isolation as per the following:

    (1) you are returning from a trip abroad less than 14 days earlier;
    (2) you have received a COVID-19 diagnosis and are still considered to be a carrier of the disease;
    (3) you are showing COVID-19 symptoms;
    (4) you have been in contact with a suspected, probable or confirmed COVID-19 case less than 14 days earlier;
    (5) you are waiting for the results of a COVID-19 screening test;

If you are eligible and wish to avail yourself of the vote by mail, please make a request to the Returning Officer BY December 10, 2020. You can make the request as per the following:

Voting ballot(s) will be sent with a return envelope and instructions to each eligible voter who requested to vote by mail.

Completed ballots must be received at the Election Office before 4:30pm on December 18, 2020.

BILL 40

A judgment was rendered on September 17, 2020 regarding Bill 40 maintaining the injunction, and hearings will now be held in Superior court on the merits.

The 2020 School Elections were set to be held on November 1st, 2020, but were postponed to December 20, 2020 based on the previous governance model.
